What is Infinite Slides?
Archived letter from the current producer of IS:
Infinite Slides, is virtual seasons of the cult hit Sliders which originally aired on the Fox Network. In other words, a television show that isn't filmed and instead written as stories. We, the fans of Sliders, wanted to see our favorite show continue, and with the whole original cast. Well, since we don't live in a perfect world, that isn't possible. But anything is possible when you're a writer. So Infinite Slides was born. A whole new universe of endless adventures. We don't need actors or a huge budget, just our imaginations and a keyboard. So now that I've simply defined what IS actually is, I'll spare you the traditional lengthy speech about it and simply say, "Welcome to our unique dimension. Sit back, get comfy, and enjoy the ride."
Jayelle Carey When fox announced that they were canceling my favorite show Sliders after what many would call a disappointing third season many other fans and I were greatly disappointed. How would we thrill to the adventures of Quinn, Rembrant, Wade and Maggie? Where were we ever going to get our alternate earth fix? What the H-E-double hockey sticks happened to Quinn and Maggie in the futuristic world.
I didn't like it but what could I do? Then I came across a site called Forever Knight The Virtual Fourth Season and another one called Sea Quest 2047. Both of these sites did something that I found appealing. They took two shows that had been canceled and continuing from where the original shows took off revived it into what might have happened had the shows gone on. I loved that idea. Granted, ordinary fan-fic has done a great job of giving fans of canceled and currently running shows their fix, but the sites and I soon found out many others did something different. They gathered a group of talented fan-fic writers and showed the fans if the shows had continued what might have been. I said to myself, "you know if only someone would do that with Sliders."
So I sent out the call across newsgroups, Web Pages, and Mailing list. Would people like to see something like this with Sliders and would they help me do it. To my Surprise allot of people answered with encouragement, story ideas, and offers to help and so the Project of Sliders: The Virtual Fourth Season, later renamed Infinite Slides was underway and has formed into what you see here.
Infinite Slides is a site that through a series of stories following a tight continuity would continue where the Sliders season finale of the third season left off. Proving great minds think alike several other talented people have also set up sites continuing where the Sliders third season left off. All of them are great and I highly recommend them. What is the difference between those sights and mine? Simple the creators vision, all the other site creators and me had a unique vision of how Sliders should continue. This is my vision of how Sliders would continue I owe allot in fact probably most of it to the writers who have helped me shape the Infinite Slides universe.
Our prayers were answered not long after Sliders cancellation from FOX when it was revealed that Sliders had been picked up for a Fourth Season of new episodes to air on the Sci-Fi channel. When news of this reached I was about to abandon this project, as the original need for it wasn't there. Fans, however didn't agree and I was encouraged to continue both for fans who either, weren't pleased with the real season four, could never get too much Sliders, or weren't going to be getting it from where they lived. So Infinite Slides lived.
I should note the up and coming Fourth Season while I am hoping will be the best yet has no bearing to the stories in this site. Wade is still here and Collin Mallory doesn't exist. These reasons alone should give fans a reason to follow both the TV and Internet fourth season. On behalf of the staff of IS we hope that this site finds a special place among both Sliders fans and maybe even sci-fi fans who enjoy good Science Fiction.
